May 6 Rooftop Concert - The Strike, The Aces, Mimi Knowles

Provo Rooftop Concert Series Returns for Seventh Year

The Str!ke and The Aces to co-headline

PROVO, Utah-- April 14, 2016-- The Provo tradition that now draws thousands is back for another year of the Rooftop Concert Series, with Utah’s finest bands playing for free under the stars.

The event co-founder and sponsor Courtney Kendrick, of the popular blog CJaneKendrick.com, says the sixth season exceeded expectations, but for the seventh, they have even more up their sleeves.

“This year we're planning on maintaining our Rooftop roots--concentrating on new up-and-coming bands from our local scene and giving spotlight to some of our favorite Provo bands,” says Kendrick. “We do have some surprises in store--it's going to be a delightful season for sure."

The show will include co-headliners The Str!ke and The Aces, both Utah music scene standouts. The Str!ke has gained national recognition playing with acts like Journey and Kelly Clarkson, as well as appearing on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ among other shows. The Aces, formerly The Blue Aces, is the Provo phenom of four girls who have opened for local favorite, Neon Trees, and will also be releasing their newest EP this summer. Opening the show for the evening is the hip hop sounds of Mimi Knowles, who will be bringing his full band for the first time ever on the Rooftop stage.

The first concert of this year’s series will be on May 6 at 7:30 pm at the NuSkin Plaza at 100 West and Center Street in Provo. Title sponsors this year include Provo City and Pepsi Co.The Rooftop Concert Series began in 2010 as a part of the Center Focus initiative to revitalize downtown Provo. The series has grown to attract thousands of people per concert and an all-star lineup of local and nationally recognized musicians.
