Volunteer
Love the Rooftop Concerts and interested in helping out? Read on.
Everyone involved in putting these concerts together is volunteering their time because they believe in making Provo a better place. If you’re interested in joining us, we’d love to have you. We are looking for people that can do one or more of the following: hang posters, help set up the day of the show, string lights, and clean up once the concert is over and other such jobs.
We’re so grateful for our volunteers and we couldn’t do it without them. If you are interested in helping out, please contact us at: help@rooftopconcerts.com

Hey!
I heard about this from one of my close family friends from Provo, and thought this was a fantastic idea! You see, I live in Salt Lake City, and I was wondering if you’d be interested in having part of your performance in Downtown SLC! I’m a High School student, and all of the “kids” around here (not to mention a whole lot of other people) need something fun to do on the weekends! We’re sick of getting caught up in bad environments and parties that have alcohol and such, and we love good music! I speak for all of us when I say we’d love to see this up here! Is there any way I, or we, can get involved??
Hi High School Student
I agree that the Provo Rooftop Concert Series are awesome and I think your expressed interest in getting involved. I just wanted to give you a head’s up that there are tons of super cool all-ages venues in Downtown Salt Lake City this summer that follow the same format and provide AMAZING music. Even better, the shows are alcohol free and most are either free or very reasonable.
For example, Kilby Court (741 S. Kilby Court (330 WEST)) is a great venue that hosts great bands each week. On July 9, Jay Henderson (front man for Band of Annuals) will be playing at Kilby. Additional shows include July 31 Jay Brannan; August 4 Jessica Lea Mayfield; August 8: The Mynabirds; and more.
The Depot, located in downtown Salt Lake at The Gateway have Neon Trees scheduled for June 8, and The Head & The Heart on Sept 21 … BOTH shows are for “kids” 16 and over.
Also be sure to check out concerts the Gallivan Center. I know The Avett Brothers play there on June 28.
AND of course the (all-ages) Twilight Concert Series at Pioneer Park starts in July and runs through August. Each show is just $5 and this year’s lineup is sweet:
July 5: Beach House & The Walkmen // July 26: Band of Horses //
August 2: My Morning Jacket & Joshua James // August 9: Passion Pit // August 16: Iron and Wine // August 23: M. Ward & DeVotchKa. (Check out http://twilightconcertseries.com/ for complete details.)
And I would be remiss not to mention Thrice, Bouncing Souls, Motion City Soundtrack, Girl Talk, and Yeasayer at In The Venue during the months of June, July, and August. These shows are all-ages as well.
And FINALLY, the Utah Arts Festival runs from June 21 to June 24 at Library Square features close to 80 local bands throughout the weekend, along with the Summer Solstice Show on June 16 headlined by Neko Case.
I’m not sure if you are interested in any of this music, but give it a chance. You’ll have an unlimited selection each weekend. There are several websites available with prices, dates, and times if you want further details.
Good luck!
Hi,
I love your blog. I loved reading your blog about things to do in Provo. I have 2 sons attending college in Provo and loved giving them fun ideas of things to do in Provo. My question is how does a band get involved in playing in the rooftop series? My son is in a band in Provo and I think they would be a great addition to the series. They have performed in Battle of the Bands at the Velour in Provo a couple of times and at various other places. They have a great group of kids that follow them. The band is called Robert and the Carrolls. You can contact me at my email or cell# 714-401-4132. Thank you, Christel
Thanks for asking. Playing successful shows at Velour is helpful. We love working closely with Corey Fox, the owner of Velour. Having a track record of successful shows in the area is also helpful. For 2012, we have a pretty good idea of our line-up. So if Robert and the Carrolls want to introduce themselves and let us know who they are and what shows they will be doing this year, it will give us a chance to hear them and see if it’s a good fit for subsequent years.
