Provo’s Rooftop Concert Series Begins Third Season with a Call for Sponsors
Provo, UT – March 19 – Since its inaugural concert in September 2010, the Provo Rooftop Concert Series has delivered on its promise to help revitalize and enhance the cultural identity of Downtown Provo with its popular free monthly concerts. The Rooftop Concert Series planning committee kicks off the third season by inviting Provo businesses and donors to support the community’s newest summer tradition.
Growing rapidly in size and popularity, the Rooftop Concert Series attracts a diverse audience with attendees ranging from local students to resident families to professionals to out-of-town visitors. On the first Friday of each month, from May to October, an average of 2,500 patrons flock to the rooftop of the Provo Town Square to listen to some of the most popular local and international musicians. Past performers include Mindy Gledhill, Meaghan Smith, Fictionist, Imagine Dragons and The Lower Lights.
While the free concerts attract the crowds, the planning committee also offers many advertising and cross-promotional opportunities for downtown businesses as well as encourages patrons to attend the Art Stroll and eat out before the concerts.
Due to the tremendous success of the Rooftop Concert Series, the planning committee has partnered with Provo City and the new Downtown Provo Inc. to continue growing the event and supporting arts and culture in Downtown Provo.
“We are delighted at the success of the Rooftop Concert Series,” says Provo Mayor John Curtis. “Not only is it one of the most well-attended events in our community, it also showcases the breadth of local talent and our commitment to celebrating and supporting the arts and culture. I am proud to support the Rooftop Concert Series and hope other members of our community will do the same.”
In addition to financial support from Downtown Provo Inc. and Provo City, the committee received tremendous response from the community during last year’s Kickstarter campaign—raising over $5,000 from more than 100 individual contributors who are anxious to see this new tradition flourish.
The planning committee is composed of some of Provo’s most successful musicians, writers, and artists including blogger Courtney Kendrick, singer/songwriter Mindy Gledhill, photographer Justin Hackworth, and music manager Sarah Wiley. Along with many other volunteers, the planning committee is working hard to plan the third season, which will again showcase the best local musicians. Details on the lineup for the 2012 season will be released in the coming weeks.
The planning committee is currently looking for a few high-value sponsors who would receive top-name billing for the whole series. These sponsors would be included in all promotional materials including online, press, and venue advertising. Businesses interested in sponsoring the 2012 season can contact Courtney Kendrick at firstname.lastname@example.org.
