Well, we have to thank you folks for helping us reach/exceed our Kickstarter page goal of 5k in just three days.

(Our goal was to reach it in sixty days, but three is awesome!)

So now we’re forced to believe you’d like to see a Rooftop Concert Series 2012.

Yes?

Good. Us too.

So here’s the deal. We’re just going to keep on keeping on. Our Kickstarter page is going to be up for awhile (December 11th) and 5k is actually only a tiny slice of our series budget, so how about we talk you into some ideas? Ideas that will please and delight, entertain and excite and go to toward our cause.

Did you come to our June show? That absolutely cute show with Meaghan Smith and Mindy Gledhill. Wasn’t it quirky and fun? The warm up position? Remember that guy? He sang and melted your heart? That was Ryan Innes. He was so popular that night, we invited him back to sing with The Abbey Road Show. And when he got up to sing “Oh Darling” the crowd had went NUTS.

Proof (first 2:00):

The dude has pipes that melts hearts.

After his Rooftop appearances we were fielding “WHO IS THIS GUY?” questions from our facebook page to our emails. Even my own mother-in-law bought all the Ryan Innes offerings she could find. This is to say: Ryan Innes is a force.

And for just $350 he can come to your house, your party, your private concert event and sing his heart out for you. Or, you could go in with your girlfriends and have him come sing at your soon-to-be-wed friend’s bachelorette party, or GIRLS NIGHT OUT EVENT or heavens, just for you because you deserve someone to sing to you like only Ryan Innes can sing.

Please note: There is only ONE Ryan Innes house concert available. First come, first served. And I DO mean served, as in “this will be a generous serving of cool” kind of served. Also, house concerts typically run around $500 for artists like Ryan Innes. So this is amazing and 30% off.

Dear Rooftop Series Community,

Here it is, the final week of our concert series! We’ll celebrate a phenomenal season with our last concert, the Lower Lights on October 7. Thanks to you, this season has been a wild success with perfect weather, exciting performers and a thrilling downtown atmosphere.

Of course, we hope to be able to pick back up with the concert series next summer with a full new 2012 line up. In order to put on these concerts and make them completely free to the community we’ve relied on generous sponsors.

Now we’re asking our community to support the concert series by making a donation to ensure our ability to rock the rooftop again next year. If you’ve enjoyed the event with your family, friends, dates, or maybe even by yourself, we ask you to consider making a contribution to our cause! If you’ve learned of new music, new artists, new talent and this has enriched your life, please donate! If you love downtown Provo and want to see it grow in community and culture, make a contribution so we can continue!

How to make a contribution? First of all, we will be taking donations at the concert on October 7. Come prepared to drop a few bucks (or more!) in our collection boxes. Secondly, if you can’t make it to the concert we will have a Kickstarter Fund up on this website in the next couple days where you can go to easily make a pledge to the 2012 Rooftop Concert Series project.

The Lower Lights – October 7

UPDATE: We are still planning on having the concert, even though weather conditions may be chilly with a drizzle. Dress warm and bring someone with whom you can snuggle.

We’re wrapping up the 2011 Rooftop Concert Series with The Lower Lights. You’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven. Opening that night will be Dustin Christensen. I mean, come on. How could this night get any better?

You may have heard that at one time this season we had planned on the Neon Trees playing our September show. Things have changed a bit, and here’s what the Neon Trees have to say about it:

Hey fans and friends of Provo’s Rooftop Concert Series! As some have heard, Neon Trees were scheduled to perform on the rooftop. We were excited since we believe this concert series to be a cool gig. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to perform at the series this season, due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts. Please support the Rooftop Concerts by attending and cheering on the great musicians involved. We love Provo and hope to see you all soon.

The Abbey Road Show with Sarah Sample – July 1, 2011

C. Jane presents another fantastic Rooftop Concert, sponsored by Sweet Tooth Fairy, ModBod, and 3B Yoga.

The Abbey Road Show is, on the surface, a simple concept– take The Beatles’ classic album Abbey Road and recreate it live. But it isn’t that simple. See, The Beatles had the luxury of never actually having to perform any of these songs live; they had stopped touring a few years earlier. In fact, the medley that comprises what used to be called Side Two of the album is a bunch of mini-songs expertly spliced together by studio genius George Martin. So re-creating the album live isn’t as simple as it might sound. That’s why we assembled a house band (members of Fictionist, Atherton, The Madison Arm, and more) just talented and stupid enough to accept the challenge. And then we enlisted some of our favorite singers– Brinton Jones (The Devil Whale), Marcus Bently (Location Location), Stuart Maxfield (Fictionist) Nate Pyfer (Code Hero, Night Night) Ryan Tanner (Atherton), Ryan Innes, Sayde Price, Libbie Linton, Debra Fotheringham, Mark Smith, Dominic Moore (The Lower West), Paul Jacobsen, and more– to tackle the singing. And on July 1, semi-poetically on a rooftop (a la Let It Be), we’re gonna try to play it for a bunch of our friends. Sounds simple enough, right?

“Someday, Someday” is Sarah Sample’s latest release. And after two albums, an EP, and lots of touring into her career, Sarah Sample is quickly shedding any traces of up-and-comer with it’s arrival. With a potent mix of hard work, conviction, an uncanny and tireless ability to connect with audiences, relentless enthusiasm, a stunning voice and- most importantly- an enviable catalog of really, really great songs, it’s easy to see why.

With lyrics that “cut to the bone” (SLC Weekly) and “just a great, great voice” (Peter Mayer), Sarah’s songs are getting noticed. They won her a slot on 2010′s Cayamo Cruise and the mainstage at Folks Fest 2008. Telluride, Kerrville, Mountain New Song, Sisters: you name it, she’s been a finalist. Marketa Irglova of The Swell Season says of Sarah’s live performance, “I was inspired, so touched by her music and by her energy on stage with the band as well as with the audience. A lovely memory I will cherish.” Sample has also shared stages with Darrell Scott, Melissa Ferrick, Willy Porter, Peter Himmelman, Mark Stuart/Stacey Earle, Edie Carey, and more, winning new and devoted listeners each time.

Mindy and Meaghan – A perfect night, an enormous crowd

Wow. Another very successful Rooftop Concert took place on June 3rd with our biggest crowd yet. We’ve only had two shows this year and two last year and we already need an arena.

Well of course the place was packed. We had Mindy Gledhill and Meaghan Smith. Oh, but that’s not all. Ryan Innes warmed up the crowd while everyone settled in and everyone’s favorite blogger, Cjane hosted the show.
